Made of Money #Morteza

Today I have asked some questions to the World First challenge's 'Made of Money' winner Morteza:

Congratulations !

You won the the challenge set by currency exchange company, World First, around the theme ‘Made of Money’. How did that felt ?

I was really exited,  I wasn't expecting it, especially when I saw other student's work.

Which piece would you have choose if you were not in the competion ?

Anna Cooper's design ! Her Abacus dress was amazing, really modern, sophisticated, the research behind it and the details. The structure and silhouette of the dress combine with the knit work was really beautiful.

What did you learn from the show ?

I learnt a lot, how import the team work was and the time management.

What would you have done differently ?

My garment wasn't 100% what I was expecting it to be when I first designed it. I would have start it differently, head to bottom. Also I would have tried to make it a bit lighter, we had a bit of a problem with the weight of it, the model I was assigned couldn't hold it on her hips. I would try to have more fitting next time to see how it work on the body.

What are you working on now ?

On the final project, I am looking at Central Asian Tribes.

How advanced are you on this project ?

I have started the primary research, I have been to the British Museum

What do you see yourself doing next year ?

I am applying for Womenswear MA at Middlesex University.

Have you had any other interview yet ?

Yes I had an interview at Central Saint Martins

How did that go ?

Well I have been rejected. But I took the feedback really well, they told me that I needed to do much more work and I think that really helped.

A quite indiscreet question maybe but what did you do with your prize (A voucher for Amazon) ?

Good question (smile) I bought some books,  about Alexander McQueen and Yohji Yamamoto, and a flash gun for my camera.
